Professional Experience:  36 years

 

Mr. Ito’s experience and expertise covers the range of private, municipal, county, and state transportation and traffic services, including: Geometric Expressway Design, Traffic Engineering Design, Traffic Engineering Operations and Maintenance, Traffic Calming Devices Design, Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities Design, Modern Roundabout Design, and Applications of Computer Software such as RODEL and AUTOCAD. Mr. Ito has conducted the development and review of plans & contracts including specifications and estimates; conducted traffic studies; and developed and implemented solutions for traffic safety and operational problems. Through his work at the City of Milwaukee he has extensive experience in facilitating community based Traffic Calming alternative analysis and achieving collaborative solutions. Additionally, he has experience in planning and constructing bicycle facilities in urban and suburban environments and interacting with community representatives, bicycle advocacy clubs, and interested public individuals to implement bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

 

 

Mr. Ito planned and designed Milwaukee’s first Modern Roundabout. It was Milwaukee’s first multi-lane roundabout. He has conducted Modern Roundabout feasibility assessments, preliminary and final designs, including RODEL capacity analysis and geometric reviews. Mr. Ito has facilitated numerous modern roundabout design workshops in Wisconsin and Colorado. He will produce an Advanced Modern Roundabout Design Workshop, in Honolulu, HI on April 30, May 1&2, 2008 followed by a Modern Roundabout Alternatives Workshop for Complex Intersection(s) on May 5, 2008. The workshop presenters will be R. Barry Crown, United Kingdom, and Mark T. Johnson, Middleton, WI.

 

Mr. Ito has achieved the Distinguished Toastmaster designation in Toastmasters International, an organization providing Communication and Leadership excellence training in real world environments.
